苗木野空为了参加百变舞台的考试，从日本来到了美国西海岸。可是因为空迷了路，在向路边报摊打听问路时遇到一位奇怪的“ BT ”大叔对她动手动脚。正要生气时，不料行李被抢，不得不去追小偷。在追到小偷和**解释完毕后，空在考试会场还是迟到了，因为蕾拉的阻挠，空错过了试选。空正要伤心时，在“百变舞台”后台监理 肯 的帮住下，得到参观后台的机会。其间空因为好心却帮了倒忙，弄伤了蹦床演员图兰布琳塔萨，之前的那位“BT”大叔出现了，原来他就是“百变之星”的老板卡洛斯。卡洛斯让空代替受伤的图兰布琳塔萨上台演出。
